Cashbook on Multiple Computers

Summary

How can I make my Cashbook data available on more than one computer?

Detailed Description

If you want to install Cashbook on a new (second) computer, remember that it will initially install as a demonstration version and it will need to be registered within 30 days. This is not normally a problem, but if in doubt, please contact Practical Systems to see where you stand with regards to multiple installations.

Step 1 - backup your existing data

Note: that for each option discussed below, you can backup to a local folder and then choose the Backup to Practical Systems Data Warehouse option to make the restore process on the new computer simpler.

A. Cashbook Connect

      Backup Individual Companies

  • On the current computer do a backup of each company and all years that you wish to load on to the new computer.
  • Click on the File > Backup Data Files menu option to backup a single company.
  • Click on the File > Multi-Company Backup menu option to backup for 2 or more companies.

  • Backup to either a USB (external) or the Practical Systems Data Warehouse.
  • Make sure all years are ticked for a single company backup.
  • Make sure all companies and all years are ticked for a multicompany backup.

  • Click on the OK button and wait for the backup to complete.

Individual Company:

All Companies:

Step 2  - install Cashbook on another computer

Step 3 - Restore your data into the new Cashbook installation

For each backup file created in Step 1, restore the data into the new Cashbook installation. If you are restoring a company or companies into Cashbook Platinum, ensure that you have each company already created, ready to receive the data.

If you have done a multi-company backup, ensure you use the multi-company restore option.

If you have any problems or questions please contact Practical Systems.
