Reconcile EIDs entered in Stockbook with NLIS database

Summary

How do I reconcile Stockbook with the NLIS database?

Detailed Description

The National Livestock Identification System (NLIS) is Australia’s scheme for the identification and tracing of livestock.

The NLIS combines three elements to enable the lifetime traceability of animals:

  • an animal identifier (a visual or electronic ear tag known as a device).
  • identification of a physical location by means of a Property Identification Code (PIC).
  • a web-accessible database to store and correlate movement data and associated details.

Handy Hints before you attempt to reconcile:

  • Ensure all animals in Stockbook have been allocated with an Electronic Identification (EID).
  • Ensure you have a record of all unallocated tags. This can be done by scanning the tags into the Unallocated Tag List.
  • Reconcile at a time when you have recently processed all of your livestock, to ensure your Stockbook records accurately match your current livestock numbers on your property.

Step 1

  • Click on the NLIS tab on the main toolbar.

Step 2

  • Click on the Setup option.
  • Enter your NLIS User ID.
  • Enter your Password.
  • Enter your Email Address that is registered on the NLIS Database.

Step 3

  • Click on the PIC Reconciliation options.
  • Select the Direct from the NLIS database option.
  • Enter your PIC.
  • Tick the Check for animals 'Active' in Stockbook, but not 'Active' on your PIC box.
  • Enter a name in Save to User List.
  • Tick the Clear list first box.
  • Tick the Check for animals 'Inactive' in Stockbook, but still 'Active' on your PIC box.
  • Enter a name in Save to User List.
  • Tick the Clear list first box.
  • Tick the Check for animals not in Stockbook or on the Unallocated Tag List, but 'Active' on your PIC box.
  • Click the Process button.
