Adding a leading zero to a number in excel

How do I add a leading zero to a number in excel?

Often you may need to use excel to modify a document so that it can be imported into Stockbook. For example excel may delete the leading 0 of IDs that require it to be present.

Step 1

Highlight the column that you wish to alter by clicking on the letter above it.

Step 2

Then right click on that column and go down to Format Cells.

Step 3

Click on the number tab and the Custom category and change the type to 00000# (This is for a number that has 6 digits).

Then click the OK button.

The numbers should then appear as 091234 rather than 91234.
